It Is Official: All Parks Are Closing at Walt Disney World

All parks at Walt Disney World; Disney Springs, Epcot and Magic Kingdom will be closing Saturday 9/9 at 9pm thru Monday 9/11.

Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will be closing Saturday 9/9 at 7pm thru Monday 9/11.

Hurricane Irma Tips and Information for Disney World

Hurricane Irma is on everyone’s mind and Walt Express wants to help sort it all out. There is TONS of information floating around the internet and various social media outlets. Some is reliable and some is not.

We cannot tell you to cancel your trip to Disney World. No one knows for sure at this point what will happen. But, the state of Florida will be affected (from what we know right now). This can AND will affect gas, food, water supplies and traveling.  While Disney World may not be directly affected, there will still be dangerous conditions going to and from Disney World and possibly in the Parks.

What We Know

Hurricane Irma is a very dangerous category 5 hurricane. We do not know where it will directly hit, as of right now. We depend on our friends from The Weather Channel to keep us up-to-date. For the most up-to-date information, head to the WEATHER CHANNEL.

From Disney World

Our news regarding closures for Disney World or any updates will come straight from Disney. We will not publish any information until we have it confirmed through them. We want you to have the most up-to-date and accurate information. We understand there may be some conflicting information, as this usually happens during any hurricane no matter where it hits. This is not a time to use scare tactics, but only accurate information.

Current Closures for Disney World

  • Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon: Closing Saturday 9/9 at 5 p.m.– Monday, 9/11
  • Night of Joy: Saturday, September 9th (Guests with tickets for Saturday are welcome to attend Friday’s event instead by exchanging their ticket at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Box Office starting at 4:00 PM Friday. Requests for a full refund for either event night will be honored by calling the ticket services team at 407-566-4985, Option 5).
  • Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party: Sunday, September 10th; Guests are invited to exchange their Sunday, September 10 event tickets for one of the following options:

Tickets to attend another Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. 

Tickets to attend an upcoming Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. 

1 Day Magic Your Way Tickets with Park Hopper Option, to be used within the next two years. 

Receive a full refund for event tickets.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex: Closed on Saturday, 9/9 – Monday, 9/11

La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil 9 p.m. show canceled on Saturday, Sept. 9

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort will close Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort closed as of Friday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Treehouses will be closed beginning Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m

Dining Information

9/8/2017: (per Disney) New dining reservations for September 10 and 11 are not available at this time as we monitor progress of Hurricane Irma. Effective immediately we will not be enforcing dining reservation cancellation policies so no need to cancel dining reservations through Monday September 11th. Restaurants are open as normal today (Friday 9/7/2017). Starting now, we won’t be enforcing the cancellation fee and you don’t need to cancel.

Disney Reservation Center

Please note the Disney Reservation Center is currently experiencing heavy call volume. One the disneyworld.com website, there is a pop-up button to CHAT with a representative regarding Hurricane Irma. For more information regarding the hurricane policy from Disney World, you can check HERE.

Updated 9/9/17: With Hurricane Irma approaching the state of Florida and keeping safety top of mind, the Disney Reservation Center will be closed Sunday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 11, with the plan of resuming operations once the storm has passed. Please note the Disney Reservation Center will operate normal business hours on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Transportation Updated 9/9/17: 

Disney Resort transportation from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will end at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017.

Disney Resort transportation from Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot and Disney Springs will end at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9
