Changes To Disney’s Magical Express

Beginning July 16th, 2020 Disney World will still be operating the Magical Express service from Orlando Airport to the Disney World Resorts like previous. However, they will no longer be taking your luggage for you and magically have it delivered to your room. Starting the 16th, you will need to bring your baggage to the airport check in area when your check into the airport. However, when you land in Orlando International Airport you will need to retrieve your own baggage from the baggage retrieval area. Once you have your checked bags you can make your way to the Magical Express area in the airport, just like before! When you board your bus you will just bring your baggage with you and have it loaded onto the bus. Once you arrive at your hotel you will get your bags from the cast member driving the Magical Express bus.

Arrival At The Resort

Once you arrive at your resort, the resort cast members will still offer to help you bring your bags to your room if your room is available. If you are arriving before your check in, it appears you can still leave your baggage with Bell Services to retrieve once your room is ready. If you have done Online Check-In through your My Disney Experience account, you will receive a text message or an email when your room is ready. Even though Magical Express has changed a little bit the online check in is still a great tool for checking into your resort.

Departing The Resort

On your departure day, there are no longer airport services at the resort. Again, you will need to bring your baggage with you on the Magical Express bus back to Orlando International Airport and retrieve it from the bus once you arrive at the airport.

Changes To Disney’s Magical Express Can Change

During this time things are rapidly changing, and hopefully these changes to Disney’s Magical Express are only temporary. In time, Disney World could go back to their normal practices for Magical Express. I know my family and I love the Magical Express services that Disney offers, especially with kids! And while this may be a slight inconvenience to those flying into Orlando International Airport we are happy that Disney World has found a way to continue transporting their guests from the Airport to the Resorts. Keep in mind that it is current policy in Disney World that you must wear a mask. I believe it is safe to say that you will be required to wear a mask while on the Magical Express buses, as well as when you are walking around your resort. Keep this in mind while you are packing. You may want to pack a mask or two for everyone in your party. Be sure to have easy access to it when you are getting off and on the Magical Express bus.
