Kona Cafe At Disney’s Polynesian

You will find several options for dining at the Polynesian Resort, and don’t get me wrong they are ALL delicious. We have eaten at O’Hana, Captain Cooks and we have done the Luau. However, breakfast at the Kona Cafe has easily become my favorite. Every time we do our advance dining reservations, I know I am booking breakfast here. It’s not a character breakfast and it’s not a buffet but it is a great experience.

Located At The Polynesian Resort

First of all it’s at the Polynesian Resort, which is a treat in itself. This resort is on the monorail line and it is gorgeous! The main lobby is beautiful, with outdoor waterfalls at the entrance, tiki torches lit all around and you never know what fun activities you will find going on, including a fun hula lesson! So after you take all your mandatory fun lobby pictures, take a trip up the stairs. Opposite from O’Hana’s check in you will find Kona Cafe. There is a Kona Island located right near the entrance where you can grab food quickly. In the morning they serve muffins, bagels, snacks and coffee. You can get the delicious Kona coffee here too!

Mimosa For Breakfast

Inside the restaurant you will find it’s kind of small, but I find it cozy. It can get a little loud but nothing too overwhelming. We went for breakfast so we tried the Liliko’i Mimosa and the Wasabi Bloody Mary. I loved the Liliko’i juice so the mimosa was perfect. My husband has never had a bloody Mary before so he decided to try the Wasabi one. He raved about it the entire trip and tried to get another one like it other places but has had no luck!

Along with our drinks we also just got a regular pot of the brewed coffee. However, there is an option for the pressed pot Hawaiian coffee. I saw a lot of these on other tables and I have heard it is very good, especially if you are a coffee lover!

Famous Tonga Toast

Before we ate here for the first time I had heard a lot about the famous Tonga Toast. I wanted to try it so badly, but it has bananas in it and I am not a fan of bananas at all. I thought maybe I could eat around them or something but eventually I decided on something else. I went with the Macadamia Nut Pancakes. Wow, just wow. I think about these pancakes daily! They are amazing! It is a stack of three large pancakes cooked with macadamia nuts inside with a delicious macadamia nut butter and pineapple on top. It is the best breakfast ever. I would eat these everyday! I also got a side of bacon but the pancakes absolutely stole the show!

My kids got mickey pancakes and devoured them like they always do. My husband ordered the Polynesian Egg Platter and he was very happy with his meal. It came with a cute mickey mouse shaped muffin that so was delicious, we all had to give it a try!

Kona Cafe is also opened for lunch and dinner, they serve breakfast from 7:30 am until 11:00 am. Lunch from 12:10 to 3:55 pm and dinner 5:00 pm to 9:45 pm. Advanced dining reservations are recommended. It is also one table service on the Disney Dining Plans.
