, and let me tell you, it’s definitely one of my very favorite spots in all of Disney World and might just become yours too!

Plaza On Main Street

First of all, the Plaza sticks with the theming of Main Street, U.S.A., just like a classic American restaurant at the turn of the century. Their offerings are definitely classics and the portion sizes, as many Disney World offerings tend to be, are generous. The decor is old-timey, but nice and even though the seating area isn’t huge, we didn’t feel cramped even with all eight of our guests during our last trip!

Due to it’s unique location on Main St. U.S.A., you may get a surprise visit from the Mayor of Main St. himself! On our last visit, the honorary Mayor was chosen from among the restaurant guests. Her whole family was invited to ride in the parade later that day and have some special experiences!

Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

Now, let’s talk about the most important thing: the food! In this case, I think desserts should be talked about first! Our favorite perk of eating at the Plaza is the offering of ice cream and milkshakes. There is always a special milkshake and sundae being offered. On our last visit, it was a giant milkshake topped with donuts. These are goodies you can’t get anywhere else on Disney World property and since the Plaza Restaurant adjoins the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, everything is fresh and gets to your table super fast!

We love the Plaza because of one final ice cream related perk: for ONLY $9 you can get all-you-can-drink milkshakes! They come in a variety of flavors and every time you need a refill you can get a different flavor or keep getting more of the same. It’s worth a visit to the Plaza just to take advantage of this awesome deal.

More Delicious Offerings At The Plaza On Main Street

As far as entrees go, the Plaza offers a nice mix of plated dinner and sandwiches. A personal favorite of mine is definitely the meatloaf! Thick slices of meatloaf are served up in a delicious homemade gravy with sides of garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. This plate was definitely enough for two to share and was delicious. 

The sandwiches, salads, and burgers are also fabulous. My dad has to stick to a heart-healthy diet and the chicken-strawberry salad was a great choice for him. Topped with delicious strawberries, cucumbers and a white-wine vinaigrette, it was light yet still filling. The grilled chicken sandwich and the Honey-Barbecued Beef Brisket Burger were also excellent choices.

Make It A Priority!

Dining at the Plaza is always a treat and we thoroughly enjoy the view and the food. Make sure that The Plaza On Main Street is at the top of your next Disney World Vacation to-do list! You won’t be disappointed.

• The Plaza is a table service credit if you are on the Disney Dining Plans. Also note on the menu all of the items that are snack credits! Remember, a snack credit will have this emblem on the menu next to it!

Welcome to the Jungle!

Located in Adventureland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, you will find the newest and most adventurous dining experience this side of the Nile! Those same skippers who took you on a “Jungle Cruise” are the same skippers who will give you your first taste of “Jungle Cuisine”. Let me just tell you, it is an experience you won’t soon forget!

The moment you walk into the Jungle Skipper Canteen, you KNOW you are in the presence of none other than Dr. Albert Falls, founder of the Jungle Navigation Shipping Company. Dr. Falls is also in charge of the JUNGLE CRUISE, just down the road a bit. You may want to grab a bite to eat before your journey down in the Jungle begins, we never know if we will actually make it back!

We were excited to get those dinner reservations just before our “Jungle Cruise” was scheduled to depart. We were immediately seated in the famous “Mess Hall” (which was NOT messy at all!!) There are two other dining areas in the Canteen: The Jungle Room, and the S.E.A. Room (Society of Explorers and Adventurers)-Don’t tell anyone about this one! It’s TOP SECRET! These rooms are beautifully decorated and your dining skipper will allow you to walk around in each room for a view of some pretty awesome decor! With such beautiful scenery, artifacts and intricate detail in every fixture, you will want to wander around for hours, looking at every little detail.

Flavors of the Jungle

After being offered “the backside of water”, we were excited about some of the drink options available. Choices such as “Punch Line Punch”, “Exotic Coca-Cola (Brazilian and Fanta Melon Frosty-Thailand) and Schweitzer Slush, will have your taste buds wanting more. Regular soft drink choices are also available, for those feeling a little less adventurous.

There are a lot of other great options on the menu, such as Grilled Lamb Chops, Trader Sam’s “Head-On” Shrimp, “Not Piranha” Sustainable Fish and a dish labeled “Tastes like Chicken”. In addition, our friends were also dining at the Jungle Skipper Canteen and had a little one who was not fond of the yuca planks (although they were quite yummy). Their skipper immediately went next door and ordered up a serving of “regular fries” for this little cruiser. He was beyond happy!

Jungle Desserts

Even though we were all stuffed beyond measure, our skipper insisted we have dessert (insisted is pretty strong, she mentioned it and we all jumped at the opportunity). She did suggest we have dessert, since being on the cruise, we may not know when our next meal would be. We all happily obliged. With several exotic choices available, it was very difficult to narrow it down. Finally, again with more fantastic suggestions from our skipper, we made our choices. I chose the famous KUNGALOOSH! This is an African inspired chocolate cake with bananas and caramel, dusted with coffee!! Seriously, how can you go wrong with chocolate AND coffee? This was absolutely amazing! Also ordered was the Coconut Bar with Pineapple-Basil Compote and Vanilla Cream.

On the little one’s menu was the option for a Volcano! Yummy chocolate cake with caramel lava and chocolate rocks. As a result, the dessert plates were basically clean when we were finished. Every morsel GONE!

• Advance Dining Reservations were just released for this restaurant. They are available on My Disney Experience or by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE. Previously, reservations were only available as “walk-up” or same day reservations.
• Valid park admission required
• Lunch and Dinner are both one table service dining credit on the Disney Dining Plans (Regular Plan and Deluxe Plan).
• Please do not take pictures while dining at The Jungle Skipper Canteen-they are nailed to the wall. (pun intended-haha). You really CAN take pictures. The skippers actually encourage it!

New Menu Released For The Diamond Horseshoe In Disney’s Magic Kingdom

Beginning on May 23, 2018, this restaurant in Magic Kingdom will have a brand new menu to sample and boy, oh boy, does it look delicious! In the past, the offerings were BBQ pulled pork, carved turkey breast and a few sides.

Starting with the A la Carte menu, we’ve got an array of sandwiches, salads, platters and sides that are sure to fill yer belly, like the Carved Beef Brisket Sandwich with creamy coleslaw served on a brioche bun. Other sandwiches include Creamy Turkey Salad Sandwich that’s served on multigrain bread with lettuce and tomato, or you can try the Grilled Chicken Thigh Sandwich with BBQ mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion served on a Kaiser roll.

And for the BBQ-loving cattle-ranchers out there, you’ll love the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with mac and cheese and crispy onions served on a brioche bun. Or you can even just get the Mac and Cheese with bbq pulled pork, crispy onions, and green onions!

If yer lookin’ for a lighter option, then there’s always the Mixed Green Salad with cucumber, tomato, onion, and honey shallot vinaigrette. You can even add your choice of any meat to top it off.

Of course, we can’t forget the finger-lickin’ platters! Served with your choice of two sides and cornbread, there’s the Carved Beef Brisket Platter, the Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork Platter, the Grilled Chicken Thighs Platter, and even a Vegetable Platter with a choice of four sides!

And there’s plenty of sides to choose from, like the Potato Salad with grilled onions and a serrano dressing or Creamy Coleslaw with red and green cabbage. There’s also Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Bread with honey chipotle butter, Mac and Cheese, Corn on the Cobb with cheese, Corn Fritters, paprika, lime, and cilantro, and BBQ Baked Beans. Or chow down on a fresh House Salad or Watermelon Salad.

In addition, for cowpokes ages 21 and over, these frontier food favorites can be paired with classic American beers and wines. Enjoy a traditional lager style beer or a robust Pinot Noir while you chow down on a plentiful platter of Carved Beef Brisket, Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork, or Grilled Chicken Thighs.

After getting your fill of dinner, you might be hankering for some sweet stuff. On the dessert menu are some tasty dishes – Buttermilk Chocolate Cake with bourbon glaze, Peaches and Cream Cheesecake with streusel topping, and a classic Blueberry Cobbler with lemon and mint cream and oat topping.

Now, if you’ve been out on the ranch all day and your stomach is rumblin’ for more, you might be interested in the All-You-Care-To-Enjoy appetizer, entrée, and dessert platters.

Start out with the Appetizer Platter with Mixed Green Salad, Watermelon, Cucumber, and Tomato Salad, Potato Salad, and Jalapeno Cornbread.For the Entrée Platter, you can enjoy hearty helpings of Carved Beef Brisket, Smoked BBQ Pork, and Grilled Chicken Thighs accompanied with Mac and Cheese, Corn on the Cobb, Creamy Coleslaw, and BBQ Baked Beans.

The Dessert Platter will fill your belly to the brim with Buttermilk Chocolate Cake, Peaches and Cream Cheesecake, and Blueberry Cobbler.

Pinocchio Village Haus: A Disney World Quick Service Dining Review

Pinocchio Village Haus is located in Fantasyland, in the Magic Kingdom. Grab a seat with a view of IT’S A SMALL WORLD attraction! Yep, this classic is right next door and makes for a very relaxing and fun meal!

“Offerings for REAL Boys & Girls”

For all of those hungry and REAL boys and girls out there, we have flatbread. My little one swears it’s really a magic carpet. Well, it IS shaped that way! Either way, they are delicious and there was not a crumb left at our table.

Available Flatbread:

• Caprese Flatbread-Flatbread topped with Tomatoes, Basil and Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese
• Cheese Flatbread-Flatbread topped with Tomato Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese
• Pepperoni Flatbread-Flatbread topped with Pepperoni, Tomato Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese
• Sausage and Pepperoni Flatbread-Flatbread topped with Sausage, Pepperoni, Tomato Sauce and Mozzarella Cheese

Other Offerings

More delicious options include:

• Chicken Parmesan Sandwich-Panko-coated Chicken Breast on a Kaiser Roll topped with Mozzarella Cheese and Marinara Sauce served with Carrots and French Fries
• Also available are the Mickey kid-check meals, such as the Power Pack and the Smucker’s Uncrustables. Kids may also order their own flatbread in pepperoni or cheese.

Desserts

The desserts here may sound simple, but believe me, they are FAR from simple.

• Chocolate Cake-Pure chocolate goodness.
• Lemon Sorbet (no sugar added)-notice there are TWO spoons in the sorbet. Yep, it was THAT good!

Breaking News: New Breakfast Offerings Coming to Magic Kingdom!

Breakfast is Important

Breakfast IS the most important part of the day and Disney thinks so too! Just announced this morning is a whole new way of getting your most important meal of the day while you are visiting Magic Kingdom. Hey, you know you’re going to NEED all of that extra energy for exploring the park!

Batter up! Casey’s Corner will be serving muffins, bagels and a croissant donut. Those searching for a more savory, brunch-like option will enjoy corn dog nuggets and the hash brown dog.

Also on Main Street U.S.A., Plaza Ice Cream Parlor will serve Mickey waffles, Kellogg’s cereal and donuts. For a sweet twist on breakfast, try the donut sundae, a donut topped with your favorite flavor of hand-scooped Edy’s ice cream, hot fudge, apple, whipped cream, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips and of course, a cherry.

Sleepy Hollow has been one of my favorite breakfast stops for as long as I can remember. I love getting a hot, freshly-made waffle topped with strawberries and whipped cream and taking a moment to enjoy it in the seating area that overlooks Cinderella Castle. However, the new egg, ham and tomato waffle sandwich which will arrive later this month may become my new go-to. The fruit and chocolate-hazelnut waffle sandwich is also available, in case you prefer a sweet breakfast to a savory one.
