Each night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you can embrace the magic of nature during a beautiful nighttime experience called “Rivers of Light.” With captivating special effects, music, and animal folklore, this incredible show celebrates the beauty of all living things. And now, you can celebrate the beauty of sweet desserts with the new Rivers of Light Dessert Party.

With this new dining experience, you can add a sweet ending to your day by enjoying a beautiful buffet of Disney’s Animal Kingdom-themed desserts, snacks, and drinks before enjoying VIP views of “Rivers of Light.” You’ll start by checking in 60 minutes prior to the main show (8:15 p.m. for a 9:15 p.m. show) at the Rivers of Light Asia Viewing Area Terrace located across from Expedition Everest. Here you’ll enjoy house-made desserts, snacks, specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, iced tea, lemonade, and water. When the show is about to start, head down to the VIP Seating Area, where you’ll enjoy exceptional views of Rivers of Light.

This exciting new dining experience will take place on select nights starting on Monday, August 6, 2018. Starting today you can make reservations by visiting the Walt Disney World Website or call 407 WDW-DINE (407 939-3463). Price is $79 for adults and $47 for children (tax inclusive) and must be paid for in full at the time of booking. Guests must be at least 21 years of age or older and able to present a valid form of ID to consume alcoholic beverages.

Is there reserved seating for the Fireworks Dessert Party?
Guests will have a confirmed reservation at the dessert party on their desired date as part of their package reservation. Seating is open, so it is recommended Guests arrive early if they have a preference for where they would like to sit within the party.

What is the special treat that is given at the Fireworks Dessert Party?
A special treat from the Ganachery including 6 handmade chocolate ganaches featuring Cinderella’s Coach in a small white box with a ribbon holding a silver-toned key charm and a special message.

Is the Fireworks Dessert Party special treat customizable?
The special treat is not customizable.

Can this add-on be purchased for more than two Guests on the same package?
Yes. All Guests would have the option to receive the exclusive MagicBand and would receive admission to the Fireworks Dessert Party. Only one special treat would be provided at the Fireworks Dessert Party.

Does every Guest on the package have to purchase this product?
No. Guests just need to specify which members of their party will participate in the Enchanted Evening experience.

Can Guests select one of the standard solid MagicBand colors instead of the Romance MagicBand?
To receive the exclusive MagicBands, Guests are encouraged to create or sign into their My Disney Experience account at disneyworld.com to link their package reservation. If Guests wish, they can modify their MagicBands selection to one of the 8 solid MagicBands available through My Disney Experience. Once Guests have selected a color MagicBand they will not have another opportunity to receive the Romance or Honeymoon MagicBands.

Toy Story Land Update: New Character Meet And Greet In Hollywood Studios

In a few short months, Toy Story Land will be the “shiny new toy” in Disney World and we couldn’t be more excited! Our friends from Disney Parks Blog has the update on brand new character meet and greets arriving when this fantastic new land opens!

As regular readers know, we’ve been sharing updates on what to expect when Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios opens to guests on June 30. Today, we’re excited to let you know that inside this new land, you’ll have the chance to encounter some of your favorite characters from the Disney•Pixar “Toy Story” films, including Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl.

Woody, Buzz and Jessie will be greeting guests throughout Toy Story Land on a daily basis. And each character (along with the rest of the gang) will be joining in on the fun in a land where guests “shrink” to the size of a toy. Guests will be also be able to take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit, or take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, a galactic play set that Andy won at Pizza Planet.

Toy Story Land guests can also walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, which has been a guest-favorite attraction at the park since it opened in 2008. Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will allow even more guests to take aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games.

Breaking News: Disney World Resorts To Begin Charging Parking Fees

Walt Express is not very happy about this breaking news. We are, in fact, pretty mad-based on the information we have been given. So, don’t shoot the messenger. We have learned today that Disney World Resorts have implemented a BIG change beginning on March 21, 2018. Beginning on this date, if you book a stay in a Disney World Resort, you will be charged a resort parking fee. Yes, we know all of the bigger hotel chains and resorts do charge this fee, but part of the magic of staying on-site in a Disney Resort is the “no parking fee”.

Here is what we know so far. If anything changes, we will update this blog.

From Disney World Resorts

Effective for reservation bookings made March 21, 2018, and thereafter, standard overnight self-parking is available to registered Guests for a fee that will be applied to their hotel folio upon check-out. All parking fees include applicable tax Valet parking is also available for a fee.

Complimentary standard self-parking is available while enjoying select dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreation experiences at Disney Resort hotels.

Disney Vacation Club Members will not be charged for standard overnight self-parking when staying at a DVC Deluxe Villa, regardless of whether they use vacation points or another form of payment. Members also will not be charged to park when using vacation points to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Standard Overnight Parking charges per Resort Category:

Disney Value Resorts: $13 per night
Disney Moderate Resorts: $19 per night
Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night

Complimentary standard parking is available to Guests staying at Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Each campsite provides parking space for one (1) motorized vehicle.

Valet Parking:
Valet Parking is available at select Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Deluxe Villas for $33 per night (sales tax included).

Guests with Disabilities
Designated parking areas are available throughout Walt Disney World Resort for Guests with disabilities. A valid disability parking permit is required.

Disney Vacation Club:

Breaking News: Star Wars Themed Resort Coming To Disney World

While watching Disney Parks Blog Live presentation of the 2017 D23 Expo, we learned this “rumor” is in fact TRUE!! Coming soon to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. will be a new Star Wars themed resort! You will be completely immersed in the Star Wars story!

Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, just confirmed that a Star Wars-inspired resort will debut as part of the new Disney 360 vacation concept.

According to Bob, this revolutionary new vacation experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves in an entirely new form of Disney storytelling.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

Also Announced

Coming to Hollywood Studios in 2019, will be Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Check out what’s coming:

“The lands, both called Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, will allow guests to visit a remote trading port on the edge of wild space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life – and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action.

One attraction will make you feel like you’re on a Star Destroyer inside a hangar bay. It’s an attraction built on a scale we’ve never done before.

The second attraction will give guests the opportunity to fly the Millenium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission. But how you perform on the mission holds even bigger stakes: perform with skill and you may earn extra galactic credits, while bringing the ship back banged up could put you on the list of a bounty hunter. End up on Harkos’s list and you may face a problem if you show up at the local cantina!

Guests will also encounter many familiar faces inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including BB-8, Chewbacca, members of the First Order and – among many others – Rex, the troublesome pilot you may remember from the previous version of a certain Disney attraction who takes on a new role in this land as the DJ at the cantina.

And speaking of the cantina, here guests will be able to try unique concoctions like blue milk. Nearby, they’ll also be able to acquire trinkets and treasures from across the galaxy.”

Just Announced: Geyser Point Bar and Grill Opens in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort has been going through some extensive refurbishments lately. One of the additions was just announced this morning! Opening TODAY, a brand new quick service location in the Wilderness Lodge will bring some delicious new menu choices to the lodge. Our friends from Disney Parks Blog has all of the information!

Located along the water’s edge, Geyser Point is designed with cedar beams and natural stone to fit into the design that’s reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest (especially cool after dark with campfires and the iconic Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake). At the bar, artisanal sips add an authentic touch to beverage menus, including drinks which feature Pacific Northwest brewers and distilleries, and wines focusing on heritage varietals grown in Oregon and Washington.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a quick-service walk-up window next to the bar makes it easy to order and dine alfresco.

Breakfast includes everything from scrambled eggs with sausage and bacon to crab cakes Benedict and maple-cinnamon pancakes. For a lighter bite, seasonal fruit is served with lavender honey-yogurt, and steel-cut oatmeal is topped with dried fruit and nuts. For kids, scrambled eggs, buttermilk pancakes and granola with apples, strawberries and honey-yogurt dip is on the menu.

The quick-service lunch and dinner menu, available at the walk-up window includes:

• Bison burger with Tillamook Cheddar, sweet onion straws and marionberry barbecue sauce
• Classic bacon burger with Tillamook Cheddar
• House-smoked turkey sandwich with cranberry mayonnaise
• Lump crab cake sandwich with house-made Canadian bacon and spicy cabbage-carrot slaw
• Grilled salmon BLT with lemon-caper mayonnaise
• Salad with grilled Portobello, zucchini, roasted red peppers, tomato and multi-grain salad with goat cheese dressing
• Grilled chicken or salmon with arugula and romaine, apples, seasonal berries, hazelnuts and red wine vinaigrette
• Seasonal fruit plate with lavender honey yogurt
• For dessert there’s seasonal pie and a chocolate brownie mousse with caramel popcorn and toasted meringue

Kids’ all-day menu:

• Grilled chicken strips with dipping sauces, apple or veggie sticks
• Finger Food Sampler with sliced smoked turkey, Tillamook Cheddar, spiced apple jam, grape tomatoes and sourdough crisps.
