Breaking News: All-New Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular to Replace Epcot’s Illuminations

Beginning in the second half of 2019, the fireworks show for the last 20 years will be no more! That’s right, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth will be replaced as the Transformation of Epcot nears completion.

For 20 years, we have been captivated by this amazing fireworks extravaganza in Epcot’s World Showcase. We are pretty sad to see it go, but are also very excited about what is to come! The Transformation of Epcot will bring new experiences including a “Guardians of the Galaxy” roller coaster, new dining experiences and now, a brand new nighttime show.

This change is scheduled to take place by “the second half of next year”, so you still have plenty of time to enjoy this amazing display!

As regular readers know, we’ve got big plans for our multi-year transformation of Epcot, with new experiences that will “Wow!” guests while keeping true to the original vision of the park. And the all-new nighttime fireworks spectacular coming to Epcot’s World Showcase Lagoon will be part of the park’s exciting evolution.

The new show joins several previously announced experiences coming to Epcot, including the highly-anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy” roller coaster attraction, a “Ratatouille”-inspired attraction in World Showcase, a new table-service restaurant adjacent to Mission: SPACE and much more!

What are your thoughts about Illuminations leaving Epcot? We have enjoyed this celebration of our Earth for many, many years. Change is inevitable, especially in Disney World and we are pretty excited to see what Disney has in store for us next!
