Check out what this beautiful restaurant has to offer with the California Grill: A Disney Dining Review!
Are you looking for a nice restaurant to unwind from a long day at the parks, maybe with your significant other? California Grill is just the place!
California Grill sits on the top floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, making it very convenient to see the Magic Kingdom from a window seat and if you time it just right, you can dine while watching the Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. But, before you make your way to the top floor make sure you check in downstairs where you will be given a pager, when your pager is called you will continue to make your way upstairs in a special elevator. Yes, special elevator! Special treatment, huh?!
Before you are seated make sure you check out the wine selection! They have an exquisite selection that you do not want to miss.
As we were seated we noticed the lighting and quite atmosphere make for a great change from the hustle and bustle of the parks we had experienced during the day. It was a nice change of pace and would make for a great night out with your significant other or your beautiful mom, in my case.
As our meals arrived we were pleasantly surprised of the food and portions we received! The food was not only good but, the presentation was magnificent. As with most Disney restaurants, the chef accommodated the food allergies at our table before we ordered. We felt at ease as we indulged in our selections.
Don’t forget, California Grill accepts some Disney Dining Plans. Make sure you check entitlements and which Dining Plans are accepted before you go.
As the fireworks started the restaurant dimmed the lights and the staff asked everyone to stay in their seats until the show was over. You had the choice of staying at your table to watch or you could go onto the rooftop balcony to watch, When we visited we chose to watch on the balcony for a better nighttime effect. The Hallowishes fireworks were being displayed when we were dining so we were in for a special treat. Not only can you see the awesome fireworks from California Grill but, the restaurant pumps the music in from the fireworks show through speakers so you feel like you are right there in the middle of all of the action!
Like I said before, the food was very memorable and made for a special night out with my fabulous mom! We both indulged in great food and great service but the dessert was something to write home about! Make sure when you visit, you order the banana-stuffed warm homemade fritters dusted with cinnamon accompanied by a trio of dipping sauces. Delicious! We had every intention of saving some for breakfast the next morning but, they never made it that far!
As we ate our dessert we were able to experience and watch a proposal at another table. The background and restaurant, I am sure, made it extra special for the beautiful couple. Perfect place for a proposal!
All and all we had an amazing experience and we will return! Everything was special about that night. Both mom and I will never forget it! Have you been to the California Grill? What was your experience?
