BREAKING NEWS: Disney World Ticket Prices Increase 2/12

Don’t worry. This happens EVERY year. Prices do go up. This year will be no different. Our friend, Kenny the Pirate, keeps us updated and informed of this latest increase. Check it out: KENNY THE PIRATE, PRICE INCREASE.

Looks like we will see a little increase and several options will be changing.

From our friend, Kenny the Pirate:

From what I was told, Disney World may create its annual ticket price increases beginning tomorrow, February 12, 2017 and add a couple of new options that are somewhat confusing.

NOTE:  None of this information is official until announced by Disney themselves or seeing the information on the Disney World website.

The expiring, yet non-expiring ticketBREAKING NEWS: Disney World Ticket Prices Increase 2/12

All tickets purchased from February 12, 2017 onward will expire December 31, 2018 with an odd exception being added.  If you purchase a 3 to 10 day ticket and have an unused portion, you’ll be able to add on to that ticket.

Example:  You have 2 days remaining on a multi-day ticket purchase.  Those 2 days usually expire 14 days from first use.  With this new option, you can bring your expired ticket with two days remaining on another trip and purchase a ticket of greater value for only the difference in the ticket cost.

So, you’d take the 2 days remaining ticket to the ticket booth on a later trip and then pay the difference to upgrade the ticket to a 3 days or longer ticket.

This seems like a pretty obvious way to hold value for future trips.  You purchase a 10 day ticket and use 5 days.  Bring the 5 days remaining to the ticket booth next trip and add 5 more days to create another 10 day ticket for less than the cost of a usual 5 day ticket.

Currently, you’d pay $400 for the 10 day ticket, then use 5 days.  Return for a later trip and add 5 more days for only $60.

Elimination of the “Water Parks Fun and More” option.

With the new “Park Hopper Plus” ticket, you’ll no longer be able to purchase the Water Parks option for your ticket without also purchasing a Park Hopper option bundled together. You will be able to purchase the Park Hopper as a stand alone option, but to have use of the Water Parks option without purchasing a stand alone ticket or Annual Pass, you’ll be required to purchase the more expensive “Park Hopper Plus” option.

Tickets purchased at theme park ticket window will cost more.

If you walk up to a theme park window, which you wouldn’t if you’re reading this article, you would pay a higher price than guests who purchase the same ticket from Disney’s online site, app, resorts etc.  I suppose it’s seen as a way of penalizing guests who wait to the last possible minute to purchase tickets.

Thanks to Kenny the Pirate!

If you already have a magical vacation booked, don’t worry-your ticket prices will remain the same.
