Disney After Hours: Halloween Boo Bash

After Hour Events are a great way to experience Disney World in a fun new way. From shortened lines at attractions to exclusive snacks, these events have it all! All that’s needed is a special ticket and a love for the magic.

Disney’s Boo Bash is Disney’s first After Hours event post-Covid. Below, you’ll find some of the things I’m most excited about!

What is Disney Boo Bash?

Disney After Hour Events are events that occur after the park, in which they are located, close for the night. For Boo Bash, this will be a 3-hour event that begins at either 9 or 9:30 PM depending on the date of the event.

Location

This year’s Halloween Boo Bash will take place at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This means you’ll get much shorter wait times for some of your favorite classic rides such as:

• Peter Pan’s Flight
• Space Mountain
• Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train

Snacks 

During these events, you’ll enjoy all sorts of complimentary snacks such as:

• Popcorn
• Seasonal drinks
• Fun ice cream treats

What To Do 

While enjoying these amazing snacks you can sit back, relax, and watch stupendous cavalcades featuring fan favorites like Chip and Dale, Jack Skellington, Maleficent, and so many more!

Disney’s Boo Bash Dates

So, when can you start reserving your spot at a Boo Bash? The official start date for buying tickets is June 15 and guests staying on Disney property can start purchasing tickets on June 8th.

I have a birthday coming up sooo “hint, hint”.

The parties will take place on various dates from August 10- October 31. If you would like to attend one of these events, now is the time to contact your travel agent!

Halloween Pricing

Boo Bash’s prices are comparable to the pricing of events pre-Covid. They range depending on the date that you would like from $129-$199.

Fun Fact: The closer to Halloween, the higher the price! If you happen to be DVC or an Annual passholder, there is a $10 discount per ticket for the months of August and September.

The price may be steep, but it does allow access to the party and it allows you to enter the park as early as 7 PM the day of the event. Costumes

One of the most spectacular perks of these events is that the entire family can dress up! Typically Disney does not allow guests above a certain age to dress in costume, but that rule is gone for this event!

Disney’s Boo Bash is the only event this year that allows the entire family to dress in a themed costume. Think of the options! My wife and I always try and theme our outfits at Disney World, but with Boo Bash, we would be able to theme costumes!

Spectral Spirit

One of the coolest features is that with your Memory Maker, your pictures can take on a life of their own! Disney truly works their magic in making sure they never miss an opportunity to add a little pixie dust. Watching your little ones light up when they see what concoctions they’ve worked up will be a party all on its own! That wraps up what we know so far about Disney’s Boo Bash! So don’t wait! It’s been a rough few months and we have embraced a new normal. Not only a new normal for everyday life, but a new normal for traveling. We are ready to travel. And when I say travel, of course, I mean DISNEY WORLD! My husband and I did this little video on some of the reasons you DO want to go to Disney NOW! Check it out.

There are SO many reasons to visit Disney World. Right now though, it seems everyone is talking about NOT visiting the most magical place on earth. Well, we think we need to discuss a few reasons why you DO want to go to Disney Now! Of course we want you to be safe. Please use your on discernment when planning a trip anywhere during this pandemic. These are just a few fun ideas we had on why we would want to visit right now!

• Low Crowds. This is a HUGE enticement. Get the car ready, pack the suitcase and let’s GO! Crowds are very low right now while every is adjusting to the new normal. Take advantage of that.
• Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is still ON! For now. Things could change. This is a super amazing party that only takes place during the holiday season. I mean, Magic Kingdom AND Christmas. YES!
• No STRESS of park hopping. You KNOW this can be stressful at times. We do love park hopping, but it does have it’s moments.
• No STRESS of making dining reservations. Also, you KNOW this one can bring on tons of stress when trying to plan out those dining reservations. Right now, Disney World is allowing dining reservations beginning at 60 days prior instead of 180 days. Since the Disney Dining Plan is on hold, dining reservations are easier to get!
• SAFER. I said what I said. You are probably safer at Disney World than in the grocery store. I may have exaggerated a bit, but Disney World has went above and beyond to make things safer at their parks and resorts.
• Wait times are at ALL TIME LOW. I mean, who wouldn’t want to ride Avatar, Flight of Passage BACK TO BACK? Seven Dwarfs Mine Trains with a 20 minute wait? WHAT the WHAT?!?!
• Less people. Yes, this is similar to low crowds. OK, it’s practically the same thing. BUT, I felt it needed to be mentioned again. LOW, LESS, NOT THAT MUCH…you getting my point? Doesn’t that make you want to just hop in the car and GO? It sure does me!

5 Things You Need To Do NOW

If you have a reservation at a Disney World Resort during the initial reopening of the theme parks, there are some things you need to know. Some of these things you can even do before you go. You can even start today! We want you to be able to plan accordingly for your family to ensure that you have the best “new normal” magical experience possible.

1. If you are traveling from out of state to Florida, you will need to make sure that you have reviewed any advisories or restrictions that may be in place for travel to Florida. You can visit https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/travelers/ for information.
2. You will need to have a confirmed room reservation for your stay. Make sure to link your reservation to your My Disney Experience account so that you can receive important information prior to your arrival. It is important to have the latest version of the My Disney Experience app on your mobile device, with location services and notifications enabled. This one is VERY IMPORTANT. With the new PARK RESERVATION SYSTEM in place, you will need to be sure your room and tickets are properly linked to your My Disney Experience.
3. Disney’s Magical Express Services will be available if you will be arriving/departing from Orlando International Airport. Due to the current situation, many airlines have modified their flight schedules. You will want to make sure to check your flight information. If you plan to use Disney’s Magical Express service, be sure to let your travel agent know as soon as possible so they can get this set up for you. If you are not traveling through an agent you can call (407) 939-1936 to make arrangements.
4. To help with Physical distancing efforts, it is strongly recommend that you use Online Check-In Service in advance. This can be done through the My Disney Experience app or website, simply by clicking ONLINE CHECK IN. When your room is ready, your Disney Resort will send you a room-ready notification. You can use either a MagicBand or the My Disney Experience app digital key feature to enter your room! I really like this feature. We have used it several times before all of these changes. Automatic Check Out also known as Express Resort Checkout, will also be available on the day you are scheduled to checkout. You’ll be automatically checked out of your room. There is not need to visit the Front Desk (unless you have unresolved charges to your Disney Resort hotel folio). This amenity has previously been available, but is really great for social distancing.
5. A new feature will be coming to the My Disney Experience App starting June 22nd. Virtual Chat With a Resort Cast Member. This feature will allow you to chat with a Resort Cast Member for assistance during your stay. This new feature will offer convenient support nearly anytime so there will be no need to visit the Lobby or stand in line.

Do Your Part!

Do your part to stay safe! As an extra layer of precaution, check the temperatures of everyone in your party including yourself before leaving home. If anyone is sick please, reschedule your trip for a later date. It may be a good idea to bring your thermometer to keep check on your family at the resort before leaving for the parks. As a reminder, all guest will be screened prior to entry of the theme park. Anyone displaying a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be directed to another location and will not be allowed to enter the parks. Anyone traveling with guests who displays fever will also not be allowed to enter the park.

Fingers crossed, it won’t be long until we know for sure!

Disney World Announces Plans

We have been waiting on this moment since the closure was announced, back in March! Yes, we are THAT serious about our love for Disney World. Here are all of the details that have been released so far. As more details are released, we will update this blog.

On May 27, 2020, Disney World presented it’s plan for a phased (and very limited) reopening. The plan was voted on and approved and currently waiting on the governor to give final approval for the plan. Here is what we know as of right now.

• Face masks will be required and temperature checks will also be a new normal for awhile.
• Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will reopen on July 11, 2020.
• Hollywood Studios and Epcot will reopen on July 15, 2020.
• Limited guest capacity for the parks, once they are reopened. Including possibly a reservation system in place, meaning you will need a reservation to enter the parks.
• NO fireworks shows, meet and greets or parades during the phased reopening. We are not sure when these “extras” will be back for us to enjoy. We will definitely keep you posted!

Per Disney Parks

Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests in phases before new tickets are sold; we’ll be reaching out to these guests soon to provide additional details.

Resort Information

• DVC resorts and Fort Wilderness Campgrounds will reopen on June 22

We are sure there will be more stipulations and rules as things become more clear with this reopening process.

Disney Springs: The NEW Normal

Starting our day, we parked in the Orange parking garage. This is one of three garages, which only two were available to park in during this phased opening. From there we had to go through a touch-less temperature screening before entry. Many cast members, security officers & Advent health care workers happily greeted everyone as we entered. A positive friendly “Disney style welcome”.

Face Masks & Hand Washing

Wearing a face covering is required at Disney Springs except for when you are eating & drinking. Plenty of signage with safety procedures could be found all throughout Disney Springs, guiding guest on what to do to remain safe during their visit.

Hand washing stations as well as touch-less hand sanitizer stands were also available in many locations. Guest were encouraged to use them frequently. I did see many guest using these stations and of course, we did as well. Cast members were also seen wiping down handrails, doors, windows, and benches. Working very hard to ensure our safety!

I know it is for our safety and the safety of others but I honestly do not like wearing a mask. I DID follow the rules though! So, since the only time we can have it off was when we were eating or drinking, let us just say we ate…. A LOT. Honestly, eating a lot would have happened either way but using the mask as an excuse just did not make eating so much look as bad! HAHA.

Low Crowds Equal New Experiences

We tried out a new restaurant this trip: Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza. Inside seating in the AC was available, which was a great relief. Tables were spaced out and employees were steadily cleaning doors, counters, tables and everything anyone touched. They were cleaning every single thing. The pizza was delicious AND gluten free for me. I also had a yummy salad.

Chicken Guy! is a fun quick service restaurant that is known for it’s mouthwatering chicken and its many flavor town sauces. Like the other locations that are open, markings could be found on the ground to help everyone keep a safe distance. Cleaning was also being done frequently and employees seemed incredibly happy to be back working again. My favorite meal here is a grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun with fries.

Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC – I am all about the sweets so of course I had to stop in my favorite bakery! I try to visit every time we are in Disney Springs. I was excited to get two of my favorite’s pineapple upside down cakes and a lemon tea cake. January was the last time I visited this bakery, so I was extremely excited to get these goodies again. Only one family at a time was allowed in to order as this is a small bakery. Markings on the floor were there to help guide everyone through the ordering process. Lots of cleaning was going on here as well.

The hot Florida sun was blazing so a cool drink was a nice refreshment from Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company. A frozen strawberry drink really hit the spot.

Disney Springs: The NEW Normal, but a great experience!

We had a great day in my opinion and the reopening of Disney Springs went very well. I felt completely safe. The procedures they have in place flowed well and I am looking forward to our next visit. Other locations that were also open on May 20, 2020 in Disney World’s Disney Springs.

Disney Springs will continue the phase on May 27, 2020 with the reopening some of the Disney World owned restaurants/stores. Included are some fan favorites like World of Disney, D-Luxe Burger (mobile order) and the Marketplace Co-Op.

The anticipation is OVER and Walt Express has a first look into this brand new land at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios! Join us (in my Darth Vader voice), as we take a first look into Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. If you were brave enough attend the opening day at Galaxy’s Edge, the force was definitely with you! Here is a peek of what it was like and what you can expect!

Opening Day At Galaxy’s Edge

WOW! That is a lot of people and they are all ready to immerse themselves in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. Some were looking for droids to build while others were looking for the famous blue milk. Some were hunting down light sabers and some were standing around in awe! What a sight to see!

Entering Galaxy’s Edge

Welcome to the Planet Batuu! This new land will have everything you need and even some things you didn’t know you needed!

Attractions

Millennium Falcon, Smuggler’s Run opened today, August 29. Star Wars, Rise of the Resistance will open later this year on December 5, 2019. As of right now, no fast passes are available for these attractions.

Dining

We found some delicious dining options in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! One of our favorites being Oga’s Cantina! You will some pretty amazing drinks such as the Jedi Mind Trick featuring Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit and Rose Vodka, John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum, Bols Blue Curaçao, White Grape Juice, Lime Juice, and Grapefruit Bitters. There are also non-alcoholic drinks available.

We also enjoyed Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, where you will find breakfast, lunch and dinner! A local favorite is Braised Shaak Roast: Cavatelli Pasta, Wilted Kale, Mushrooms. Another fave is the Smoked Kaadu Ribs: Sticky Pork Ribs, Blueberry Corn Muffin, Cabbage Slaw. If you are looking for something a little sweeter, try the Batuu-bon, which is a chocolate cake, with white-chocolate mousse and a coffee custard. OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Merchandise And MORE!

Of course with any new land, there will be new shopping experiences and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge does not disappoint! There are several new shops to choose from, just according on what you are looking for! Our favorite is the Creature Stall, featuring exotic animals from a galaxy far away!

Are you part of the FIRST ORDER or does your loyalty lie with the RESISTANCE? Or are you somewhere in between? Be prepared to visit both of these shops and pledge your loyalty!

Don’t forget to build your droid at the Droid Shop!

A Few Tips To Keep In Mind

• As of right now, the Disney Dining Plans are not accepted in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

• Valid park admission to Hollywood Studios is required and does not guarantee entrance into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This new land will be capacity controlled.

Disney World Skyliner Opening

At the beginning of the day the kids are READY TO GO TO THE PARK!! (I hope you read that with the excitement of a small child, as it was intended), have all of the emotions, and all of the energy!! At the end of the day we (the parents), NEED TO BE IN THE ROOM (I hope you read that with the exhaustion and urgency, as it was intended), and don’t have the energy to wait on transportation.

Monorail resorts are our favorite, but like most people, we can’t afford those every trip. The thing we love about the monorail resorts is how many people can fit on the monorail. This allows for faster and more efficient transportation to and from the parks. Currently, all of Disney’s Value and Moderate Resorts depend on Disney’s Bus transportation to and from the parks. Sometimes buses get held up, and the wait can be longer than desired. Disney World saw a need and provided a solution.

More Convenience is coming!

Coming in just over two months, Disney World will debut their brand new mode of transportation: Disney Skyliner. Opening September 29, this mode of transportation is reminiscent of the Disney Skyway connecting Fantasyland to Tomorowland at Magic Kingdom. The Skyway was operational at Disney World until November 1999. One of the stations is now home to the only bathrooms I’d describe as beautiful or “selfie worthy” on Disney property, the Tangled themed bathrooms. Disney World took this older mode of transportation and brought a modern flair to it! These new larger gondolas will feature classic Disney characters, movies, and rides you know and love.

The Skyliner will connect four different Disney World Resorts to two different Disney World theme parks. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Rivera Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will all be connected to Hollywood Studios as well as Epcot. In the past, Disney World has only provided buses to serve as Theme Park transportation from Moderate and Value Resorts. Deluxe Category resorts were the only ones given the option of walking, taking the monorail, or boat to a park. The Skyliner will change all of that! The resorts the Skyliner services will include two resorts from the Value Resort Category (Pop Century and Art of Animation), one resort from the Moderate Resort Category (Caribbean Beach), and one Resort from the Deluxe Villa Category (Rivera). This is fantastic news for those of us who love convenience, but also have a budget!

Disney World Skyliner Opening September 29

The Skyliner will consist of 300 cabins and will hold 10 guests per cabin. The cabins are also able to accommodate wheelchairs as well as guests riding assistive devices. The Skyliner has been estimated to transport up to 3000 guests per hour! While the cabins do not have air conditioning, they have been specifically tailored to provide a comfortable ride for guests traveling in the Florida climate. They have been designed with cross-vent for air flow, and reflective windows to prevent direct sunlight.

The gondolas will provide incredible views as they transport you at a birds eye view across Disney property. Each gondola will feature different classic Disney characters, movies, and rides you know and love. They’re sure to be the perfect spot for selfies and photo ops as well as provide convenient and efficient travel across property.

I don’t know about you, but we are looking forward to trying this new mode of transportation out as soon as possible! Stay tuned for details!

Disney World Extra Magic Hours

Disney World offers resort guests a perk called Extra Magic Hours. This means that each day, a specific park opens an hour earlier or stays open a few hours later so that resort guests can take advantage of lower crowds. Just in time for Fall AND the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney World is offering a brand NEW perk!

Beginning on August 29, 2019, three Disney World parks will offer these Extra, Extra Magic Hours, giving resort guests even more time to explore and experience what each park has to offer!

• Hollywood Studios: On August 29-31, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open at 6 a.m. for ALL guests. There will not be Extra, Extra Magic Hours on these days. August 29 is the official opening for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Beginning on September 1-November 2, 2019, the park will offer Extra, Extra Magic Hours to resort guests from the hours of 6-9 a.m. The Extra, Extra Magic Hours will include Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land attractions and other select attractions. Please note that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be subject to capacity limitations.
• Animal Kingdom: Extra, Extra Magic Hours will occur daily from August 29-November 2, 2019 for the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Extra, Extra Magic Hours for Animal Kingdom WILL include Pandora, World of Avatar and other attractions throughout the park.
• Magic Kingdom: Extra, Extra Magic Hours will occur daily from August 29-November 2, 2019 for the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Extra, Extra Magic Hours for Magic Kingdom WILL include favorite attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.
• EPCOT: will still offer regular Extra Magic Hours on select days.

Things To Keep In Mind

• Extra Magic Hours and Extra, Extra Magic hours are for resort guests ONLY. This means you will need to stay on Disney World property to take advantage of this extra magic.
• Extra, Extra Magic Hours is one of the benefits of staying at a Disney World Resort and will require a valid theme park admission and hotel ID.
• Not all Disney World attractions are available with the Extra, Extra Magic Hours benefit. Park hours and available attractions are subject to change without notice.
• The Extra Magic Hours benefit applies to Disney Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel, Shades of Green Resort, Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels, Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and Waldorf Astoria Orlando.

2019 Food and Wine Festival

The Food and Wine festival has come to be one of the biggest and best festivals in EPCOT, drawing in thousands of fans each year. Beginning August 29, 2019 and going through November 23, 2019, this will be the longest running Food and Wine Festival EVER! That means a record breaking 87 days of deliciousness at your fingertips! What could be better than that? Here are a few highlights of what you can expect to find this year.

This year’s festival will continue its tradition of offering tasty dishes, fine dining events, and appearances by favorite Disney culinarians and top celebrity chefs.

Eat To The Beat Concert Series

The Eat To The Beat Concert Series will be a little different this year, ending a few days before the actual festival ends. The concert series will end on November 19, 2019, to prepare for the Candlelight Processional. Be sure to keep that in mind when making plans. Watch for announcements regarding the Eat To The Beat Concert Dining Packages that may be released soon. These dining packages allow you to dine at selected EPCOT restaurants and give you a preferred viewing location for the concert later in the evening. A definite WIN-WIN!

The concert series will feature a lineup of pop, rock, R&B, country, Christian, swing and Latin artists.

Dates Also Released For EPCOT’s Festival Of The Holidays

EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays is another amazing festival that you simply do not want to miss. Each country represented will tell their story of the holidays, complete with samples of holiday cuisines! The Festival of the Holidays will return November 29, 2019 and run through December 30, 2019.

Don’t forget about a pretty special event that also takes place during the holidays at EPCOT! The Candlelight Processional:  this magical event features nightly retellings of the traditional Christmas story read by a celebrity narrator, accompanied by a choir and live orchestra. Watch for dining packages to be released soon!

A Passholder is a person that holds a year-long invitation to the most magical place on Earth. OK, that was a little dramatic, but it’s the truth! Passholders can complete their “Figment” look by receiving a 20% Passholder discount on a Festival of the Arts MagicBand, which will feature the playful, purple dragon, plus a Figment spirit jersey, T-shirt, ornament and more. They can also pick up Passholder-exclusive festival merchandise that will include a t-shirt and coaster set featuring Mickey Mouse, a pin featuring Pluto – and an exclusive Figment cookie available for purchase at Taste Track from Jan. 18 through Jan. 26.
